BESIX Group, through its Belgian subsidiary Van den Berg, has successfully completed the acquisition of Appermont Gebroeders. This company, located in Diepenbeek, was previously owned by the Appermont family.
Appermont Gebroeders, with a turnover of approximately € 4 million in 2019 and more than 30 employees, is a builder of network infrastructures and in recent years has mainly specialised in the laying of cables and pipes to the railway network. Appermont Gebroeders and Van den Berg have been working closely together for a long time. This transaction enables Van den Berg to strengthen its position in order to be able to further respond to the rapidly growing and complex infrastructure works on the railway network.
Rik Vandenberghe, CEO of BESIX Group: "Van den Berg, which has been part of BESIX Group since 2017 and is growing strongly since then, is able to further expand its activities on the Belgian railway infrastructure works. This gives us additional strength to further bolster our position on the Belgian market. The strong growth in data traffic, investments in infrastructure including the railways and the various expansion projects in the utility sector create favourable prospects for Van den Berg".
Jean Polet, General Manager BESIX Key Projects: “Van den Berg, which has grown strongly in recent years into a project organisation, becomes with this acquisition an even more prominent player in the cable and pipe laying sector, with important applications for the railway network as well as in the energy, water and telecommunications sectors.”
Annick Martin, Managing Director of Van den Berg: "Appermont Gebroeders, which will become a 100% subsidiary of Van den Berg, will continue to operate independently from Diepenbeek. This transaction is a crowning achievement of many years of cooperation. Brothers Stephen, Kevin and Robin Appermont will remain fully active in the company. Together with Van den Berg, they will help to expand the further growth of the group in the coming years. We are very pleased with this expansion and welcome the employees of Appermont Gebroeders. Together, we will be able to further expand our position within the railway network".
