BESIX Infra focuses on natural resources and recycling

21 October 2019

BESIX Infra is planning to extract all the available ironstone during operations to rebuild the N127 Geel-Diest. This sandstone is highly porous and exhibits specific stratification. This rock is perfectly capable of being extracted in-house by making use of the latter.

Large blocks are sold to appropriate sandstone processing yards, a joint venture has been set up with Natuurpunt, the Flemish nature conservation movement, for the smaller sizes. It will use the ironstone to strengthen service roads for maintenance and nature management.

Onroerend Erfgoed, the Flemish cultural heritage agency, looks after our natural resources and maps this out. It is self-evident that they are also involved in this initiative.
