Collector Voer Phase 2

Sustainable sewerage infrastructure and water management for a climate-resilient region
In Sint-Martens-Voeren and ’s-Gravenvoeren, BESIX Infra is delivering the Collector Voer Phase 2 project. Through the installation of a new separate sewer system, the renewal of road infrastructure and dedicated water management measures, the project contributes to improved water quality and a more climate-resilient environment.

Sustainable sewerage and road infrastructure works

On behalf of Aquafin, the Municipality of Voeren, the Flemish Environment Agency and the Province of Limburg, BESIX Infra is installing new sewers and a collector in several villages across Voeren. Wastewater and rainwater are collected separately, improving water quality and increasing the efficiency of the sewerage network. Homes are also connected to the new system while existing discharges into local waterways are being phased out.

At the same time, the road infrastructure is being renewed. New pavements and upgraded public spaces will improve safety, comfort and overall quality of the environment.

Focus on sustainable water management

A key objective of the project is the local management of rainwater through infiltration and controlled discharge. These measures help reduce flood risks while supporting the natural water cycle and groundwater replenishment.

Working in a challenging environment

The project is being carried out in an extensive and environmentally sensitive area comprising several village centres. Through careful planning and close coordination between all stakeholders, disruption for residents, businesses and road users is kept to a minimum.
