Pilot project for Edegemsesteenweg in Kontich

With its years of expertise and know-how, BESIX Infra has been at the top of sewerage construction for years. We are putting this to good use in this project by offering Aquafin an extra service. We are building an innovative buffer basin that uses PE pipes for the temporary storage of rainwater (buffer volume : 1000m³). Besides being innovative, it is also an economic success because it allows us to significantly reduce maintenance costs. Like the complete sewer system, the entire buffer basin can be inspected.

Ground works, sewerage works and the crossing of utility lines go hand in hand. BESIX infra is, of course, extremely careful when major high-pressure pipelines from NATO and AIR-Liquide are present. Representatives from both top companies are consulted in advance in order to eliminate all risks.

The roadway and footpaths of the Edegemsesteenweg and De Villermontstraat will be considerably embellished and upgraded with brown road concrete and sustainable clay bricks. The combination of these materials give the effect of a city square. The renewed overall image will also be supplemented with above-ground buffer basins (WADIs), planting of hedges and trees, benches in architectural concrete and wooden playground equipment.
