Project Melle, Belgium

SNCB Melle depot

From BESIX sub-contractors to strong colleagues

BESIX Infra and BESIX are working on a new depot for the SNCB in Melle. The aim is to create two workshops, one workshop for towed equipment (WGM) housing the train carriages and a traction workshop (TW) for the locomotives. The construction also involves a lot of groundwork and the construction of a new sewerage system.

Strong match

The works were started before the acquisition by the BESIX group. BESIX Infra saw its position as a sub-contractor evolve into a full partnership with BESIX. Both companies have distinct expertise that complement and strengthen one another. As the leading knowledge-driven contractor in road construction and sewerage construction, BESIX Infra can join forces with BESIX, a multidisciplinary construction company with a leading position in its markets: construction, real estate development and concessions.

Communication and efficiency

A major challenge in this type of contract is the communication between clients, contractors and suppliers. Efficient communication saves time and operating costs and guarantees a better result and a neat delivery. Following the takeover, BESIX and BESIX Infra are joining forces even more intensely to inform and coordinate all players. The result is a good working atmosphere, a great future implementation and a provisional acceptance in sight.

BESIX Infra (Heijmans Infra back then) was a pleasant partner to work with from the start of the works. In often unusual circumstances, they have successfully completed the work in different, well-considered phases. Their detailed expertise, hands-on mentality and flexible approach to unforeseen circumstances are particularly notable.
