Consortium R0Q with BESIX designated as preferred bidder for R0 North, Zaventem Zone
A major DBFM project for the Brussels Ring
Together, the consortium combines expertise for the design, construction, financing and long-term maintenance of the Brussels Ring between the Vilvoorde Viaduct and the interchange with the E40 in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe.
Key project components
This assignment goes beyond renewing a motorway. The project connects mobility, road safety, quality of life, nature development and water management in one integrated approach. The project includes, among other things:
- A new parallel structure to better separate through traffic from local traffic
- 7 km of renewed motorway
- 6 km of cycling infrastructure and 7 km of new walking paths
- more than 70 bridges and tunnels
- additional water buffering, noise barriers and green structures
In addition to designing, building and financing the project, R0Q will also be responsible for maintaining the new infrastructure for 30 years.
Integrated mobility, safety and liveability improvements
With this project, R0Q and De Werkvennootschap are creating a safer, smoother, more robust and better connected Ring, with greater attention to sustainable mobility, improved quality of life for the surrounding area and controlled water management.
R0Q and De Werkvennootschap will use the upcoming preferred bidder phase to further prepare implementation, after which construction works will start.
