Herstal viaducts have been completed

Started in May 2014, the rehabilitation and widening works on the viaducts of Herstal on the E40/A3 highway have been completed. The representative of Maxime Prévot, the Walloon Minister of Public Works and Road Safety, SOFICO, his technical partner, the DGO1 of the SPW, Patrick Delperdange of BESIX and AB Tech have cut the ribbon symbolically on the construction site this afternoon.

The works aimed at rehabilitating and widening 3 successive viaducts on the E40/A3 highway, a 650 m-long and 30 m-wide area. This section is in a strategic location, linking Wallonia with the Netherlands and Germany. An average of more than 100,000 vehicles are using this road on a daily basis. In total, over 21,000 m² have been rehabilitated, more than 5,000 m² of new apron have been built, and more than 1,000 ton of structural steel have been used.
